It’s been a long night. I haven’t slept more than 3hrs in the last 3 days.

Katja had a bumpy night. Her body is still having a hard time purging the additional CO2 from Bypass. Her blood gases have been really high all night. With all her rejection meds, steroids and epi her glucose was extremely high too.

She’s been in/out of sedation complaining about her mask. Around 6am she fully woke and decided to remove it herself. Respiratory was called in and they moved her to a nasal cannula (7 Lpm). She’s a lot more comfortable now. Sedation has been completely stopped. PT/OT is set to come by this afternoon to get her up and moving.

It was a long night but she is doing fantastic so far. All of this is to be expected and part of her healing. She hasn’t complained of much pain but she is pretty swollen still. She reluctantly agreed to go back to sleep for a little longer but said “Fine! But when I wake up, someone better finally give me water” 😆

She’s still feisty as ever 😉
