The waiting is the hardest part, honestly it is.
Katja got to watch her big sister Nevaeh graduate (thanks to the kindness of the Angel of the Winds arena). We were able to breeze her in a separate exit, avoid all the crowds and take her right to an isolated box suite. She was able to stay for about 30mins to see Nev get her diploma. This made her so incredibly happy. She was so worried she’d miss the graduation but this worked beautiful and kept her safe.

Now that graduation week has passed, the urgency for Katja has kicked in. She’s become much more tired/crabby this week. Her skin is now a constant molted blue/grey and she is definitely not herself.
We are fully packed and ready for the call. I’ve been in constant contact with her teams, Aero Angel and running around trying to get everything done.
We are running out of time to get her a flight. There is a possible paid charter flight out Tuesday morning (we haven’t raised enough funds for) but if we get the call before then or can’t raise the money in time, wouldn’t be an option. I’m working with a few people on alternatives like sperate TSA clearance for an empty commercial flight or getting us to another State where a donated flight would be easier. The problem is all of this takes time and we are running out of that these days.
The only organization we can find that can get us the 2,870 miles from here to NC is Aero Angel. All other organizations do under 1000 miles or only work on commercial flights. There really aren’t a lot of options to get her out of here.
We are working on back ups to the back ups. We are considering risking her on a commercial flight, we are reaching out to the media, news stations, local celebrities, local businesses, private plane owners and our community.
Anyone that knows us personally knows this “we NEVER ask for help”. We have always done it on our own. We’ve emptied savings to get Katja treatment, we’ve spent hours and hours flying her all over the US for treatment. We have always done this alone. We hate asking for help, we hate the judgement, the ignorance, the back hand comments and the scrutiny that comes with asking but we love Katja, this is her chance at a normal life and our pride/fear or lack of asking shouldn’t come between her and life. So we are asking for HELP. If you know someone with a private plane or are willing to donate towards her charter flight, please reach out!
Katja has been through so much. She deserves this and she needs help getting there.
