Short Version:
Yes, we are still inpatient. No, we still don’t have answers.
I figured we’d get that out of the way 😉
The long version:
Katja’s MRI/MRA were negative for any significant findings or changes. Her EEG was normal. Her swallow study was also good. PT/OT have been stopping in daily to find ways to help Katja navigate daily life with all her new symptoms.
After much consideration, they’ve decided a wheelchair will be best for now. She has a temporary one while inpatient that she got to decorate with pink tape and a matching Barbie in her own chair 🤗
She’ll have a more permanent rental hopefully later today, that we can take home (when she can come home). Her custom chair will take a few weeks (possibly months) to get.
It’s bittersweet. She can now move without depending on us so much but she’s upset that a wheelchair is needed. It’s been a hard pill to swallow for us but we are taking directions from her these days. Concessions are our new normal.
Neurology is on the fence about her coming home. She needs intensive therapy right now and it’s difficult to provide at home. They’ve discussed sending her to inpatient Rehab for sometime but we still haven’t decided. For now we are hopeful that she’ll be able to come home soon.
