Popsicles and pain

It was a long night for Katja. She was pulled off a majority of her meds and started on oral medication. Unfortunately with her sedation finally wearing off she’s in a lot of pain, which is spiking her blood pressure. We’ve talked to the team and gone through a lot of different options but it seems that putting her back on IV narcotic is going to be best for pain management. Along with oral Tylenol/Toradol. She’s been given some hefty doses of meds to lower her BP and still on (hopefully temporary) anti-coagulant treatment.

She’s exhausted. Her body is bruised and sore. Today is definitely the toughest day so far. We are really hoping her chest tubes come out soon (they are causing a lot of pain for her) but unfortunately she’s still bleeding a bit. Today’s focus is on rest, pain management and getting her comfortable.

We hope tomorrow is a better day ❤️
